Sail Away

I'm going to be honest -- the closest I've been to a sail boat is when B and I took the ferry to see Alcatraz on our honeymoon. (That's right, what's up romance?) So my classy level stays at about a 2, but I do feel like I could kick it in Nantucket with this cute little dress. As long as I keep my mouth shut, that is.

Can I just throw something out there? My hair does look good today. IN THESE PHOTOS. It does not look like this in real life. You hear me? Real life hair not dreamy; magic camera make hair dreamy. That's all.

Jewels

This weekend we hung around our favorite town, Austin, for a little mini-getaway. But when you go out for a date night, it's just not handy to bring a camera. (Although I am not above that. There is little that I am above.) So again with the trusty iPhone for outfit shots. I hate to waste a good outfit. But seriously -- why am I just now figuring this out? Did you guys know that you can use the internet, send text messages and play games on your iPhone as well? I know, I'm still in awe.

Side story: (as if my whole blog isn't one huge side story) this weekend as we were setting up for the wedding, a lady desperately asked "does anyone have any tools in their car??" I of course heard "jewels" and perked right up. Turns out, jewels are of no worth when a wrench is needed.

Something New

Today I learned something: Mint and tomato not good in a sandwich -- pretty good as an outfit. Did I really make a mint and tomato sandwich for breakfast? You will never know.

Did you have a good weekend? Was it as good as my breakfast sandwich? I didn't think so.

So it seems that I've caught the flu and I've been under the covers since last Thursday. I had high hopes for today, in fact I ate a whole meal, washed my hair, brushed my teeth. I was thiiisssss close to an outfit photo but it just did not happen. Luckily I remembered that I had photos from last week. It turned out to be a red letter day after all.

I wore this outfit when we went out for pizza the other night. You see, when B and I go out on dates (remember by 'dates' that just means we aren't cooking dinner), we usually head to a restaurant at 5:30, beat the crowd, maybe stop by Target if I can talk him into and we're home by 7. Therefore this is the outfit that happens on 'date' nights. Heels aren't really necessary for the pizza place, but has that ever stopped me? Never.

**also, if this post did not make any sense I blame medication and hours on end of reality television.

I feel like if you saw me in this dress you would think one of two things: that girl is really excited about Mad Men or she really likes Easter dresses. In my case, both are true. To top things off (pun intended, wait for it) I really wanted to go all the way and put a huge hat on, but sadly I do not own a huge hat that is appropriate for public viewing.  And by all the way, I mean I wanted to be Kate Middleton, again. Some obsessions will never die.

Hope you had a happy holiday weekend.

(Also -- if you are having trouble pinning, I don't know what the deal is. But I'll try to figure it out soon!)

Another Day, Another Blazer

I honestly don't know when I wore this outfit. It was a week or two ago on a Friday or Saturday... maybe. Who knows? Although I'm fairly certain that I did wear it. I have photographic evidence.

Yes, this is another blazer to add to my collection. If you learn one thing from this blog, it's to go find a  nice, fitted blazer. Easiest investment ever. In fact I'm wearing one right now. Will you see this outfit? Who knows, it could be days, weeks, years....

(PS -- I bought this one at Anthropologie but if you are into thrifting, and I think you are, I always see a ton of red blazers around. Do you see what I'm doing here? I'm trying to get you to buy more blazers to make me feel better about my obsession.)

Sometimes, even though I style blog, I feel like I don't try out things as much as I should. So I'm taking a risk and...putting a necklace over my buttoned up collar. Woahhhh. I know right? Maybe you should have been sitting down when you read this post. So crazy. So risky. I'm also drinking coffee and it's after noon which means I'll probably be up until 11 tonight. I can not be stopped.

The Problem with Skirts

Something about being out of an office setting makes me suddenly feel very dressed up in a skirt. When I would go to my 9 to 5 every day, a skirt was a no-brainer. I almost felt sloppy in pants (because of the impending wrinkles that would occur while sitting all day), so typically all I would wear was a skirt or a dress. But these days I feel like I should be going to the Oscars whenever I put a skirt  or dress on (hence the amount of pants I wear). And yes, this is what I would wear if I was attending the Oscars. Fancy, no? Who am I wearing? Old Navy.

I used to wear wrap skirts when I was a little girl and they would fascinate me. Mainly because the ones I wore had spandex shorts built into them. This meant no activity was out of question -- if I wanted to play kickball or go down a hot metal slide, then the sky was the limit. Maybe that's my issue with skirts now -- if only they had biker shorts built in, then I'd start wearing more of them.

Leopard Bottom Jeans

Well I'm back in town and $30 lighter from, sadly, the penny slots. I didn't dare to really gamble, because let's be honest -- I've got chump written all over me.

So I picked up these jeans at Target a few weeks back for $23 (yes for less than my Vegas loss). After seeing these in all of my magazines, I knew I had to find me a pair.  Although completely smitten with the idea of wearing leopard print on over 60% of my body, I wasn't convinced that I could pull them off.  But for $20 (and a bag of Sour Patch Kids) I thought why not? I'll try any trend for around $20. You can quote me on that.
