I'm back! I'm alive! In the contest of flu vs. Kendi, I won after a 5-day battle. I also developed a nice set of dreaded hair and some atrophy in my legs. Putting on heels for the first time after laying in bed for several days was equivalent to a baby giraffe walking for the first time. AKA very graceful.

A couple of weeks ago I was wearing a skirt and the first thing my mother said to me was "I've missed your legs." Thank you mother. I realize that you might not find my legs quite as special, but here they are again, not covered by colored jeans. A bit underwhelming, eh? Legs only a mother could love, I suppose.

Also, my skirt is wrinkled and I should probably have worn a slip. Eh, you can't win them all.

Pants Formerly Known as Capri

{Blouse: c/o Questhaven | Pants/Jacket: last year | Purse: Melie Bianco}

Last year around this time, after I had purchased these capris from Gap, I read a quote from Tim Gunn. I can't exactly remember his wording but it was something to the tune of "Ladies -- just say no to capri pants." I went into my closet, took a good hard look at these pants and decided right then and there -- these are not capri pants; these are cropped pants. And since I have a .01% chance of ever meeting Mr. Gunn in person, I'm going to speak for him and say that he would definitely approve of this pair of cropped pants.

This is also his favorite style blog, too, if you were wondering. And he loves my cooking.

Almost Rebellious

I know that there is a spoken rule about not wearing white before Easter, which for some reason has a hold on me. I don't know why but I really do follow this rule (for the record, I don't really think this rule applies anymore.) Another rule I always follow: wait at least 15 minutes after eating before swimming. I am absolutely terrified of what would happen if I did not wait. I'm pretty sure chocking on your own vomit and then drowning is what happens, but I'll never know because I follow the rules.

However I do feel a bit  like a rebel in the fact that I still have two days before it's Easter and look at me -- I'm wearing white pants and open toed shoes. Rebel without a cause, I tell ya.

The Problem with Skirts

Something about being out of an office setting makes me suddenly feel very dressed up in a skirt. When I would go to my 9 to 5 every day, a skirt was a no-brainer. I almost felt sloppy in pants (because of the impending wrinkles that would occur while sitting all day), so typically all I would wear was a skirt or a dress. But these days I feel like I should be going to the Oscars whenever I put a skirt  or dress on (hence the amount of pants I wear). And yes, this is what I would wear if I was attending the Oscars. Fancy, no? Who am I wearing? Old Navy.

I used to wear wrap skirts when I was a little girl and they would fascinate me. Mainly because the ones I wore had spandex shorts built into them. This meant no activity was out of question -- if I wanted to play kickball or go down a hot metal slide, then the sky was the limit. Maybe that's my issue with skirts now -- if only they had biker shorts built in, then I'd start wearing more of them.

Last Saturday and This Monday

Last Saturday I wore this outfit, so appropriately I would post it exactly one week later. Working retail means that even Saturdays I must get dressed up. This doesn't mean that I haven't spent hours trying to make sweat pants and heels work, but alas it just doesn't. There is just something about stained sweat pants that doesn't read "well-dressed". Quite the shame.

So  this Monday is the launch date of Bloom online. I am excited/nervous/nervous all in one. But mainly excited....and nervous. But excited.

Have a good weekend, friends. See you on Monday.
