I really did pick the gloomiest day to explore the cemetery down the street from where I live--it was raining on me in half of these pictures. Wearing a white shirt seemed ill-advised, thankfully I didn't get completely soaked and the skirt is only mock-suede so I can wear it again many more times. It was an interesting evening to wander among the stones reading so many classic Pennsylvania Dutch names that are common in this area. I wish there was someone to explain how so many had been broken; I'm not accustomed to seeing so many damaged stones. The explanation could be as simple as ice-wedging in Pennsylvania's cold clime, but my imagination does like to create more interesting theories than that.
