Twenty-Seven Names

I'm a sucker for court jester sweaters and mixed prints the way other bloggers go crazy over cat print--although this Twenty-Seven Names collection has those too (circled in lace and tied up with a bow). While I could care less about the fact that it's a cat print, I do love those sweet collared dresses and flippy little shorts. The color combinations enviable--would love to get my hands on a few of these pieces for fall.

Bona Drag

Bona Drag is a store I ogle more than I shop at. They always carry the coolest pieces from the best brands (Shakuhachi, Lover, Wren, etc), but I usually balk at the price point. Still, I keep checking in and occasionally can't resist a purchase. How pretty are these shots by Mikayla Bowman for Bona Drag? I think I enjoy the juxtaposition of pretty dresses and stark, empty landscapes because it subtly turns the girly-girl stereotype of dresses on its head. Who says tomboys have to wear shorts and tee shirts?

Enamel and Crystal

I'm really liking Natalie Joy's new spring collection--adding enamel to her usual materials of crystal and vintage chains is an inspired choice that breathes new life (literally through bright pops of color) in her pieces. I especially like the negative spaces and shapes of this line; it's a strong, dynamic expansion to the jewelry line.

Belle Of London

I'm developing a girl crush on Annie Monroe; she's from California but her style evokes British mod and she often looks like she stepped out of the swinging 60s (no doubt helped by photographers' penchant for capturing her in black in white). This series for Dear Creatures photographed by Megan Mack is quite reminiscent of her personal style and stunning little series of images. She's making me covet that black and white nautical dress even though I already have the navy version (I will resist).

Sea Monsters

Although Karen Walker's a/w 2012 collection is titled "Sea Monsters" and is inspired by 2,000 Leagues Under the Sea, I feel a more Victorian vibe from the whole lookbook down to the killer brocade heels so evocative of that era. Her sea monster inspiration is more subtle revealing itself in tentacle-like swirling paisley prints and a palette that seems dominated by the ocean's blues, greens, and occasional gold.

Carven F/W 2011

Carven simply makes cool clothes. There's something nerdy chic about this collection but in muted palettes and longer hems, it doesn't look or feel like a school uniform. These pieces are from the f/w 2011 collection and while those in the southern hemisphere can take inspiration from them for autumnal dressing now, it'll be a number of months before I start to think of layers and sweaters again.

Confezioni Crosby S/S 2012

Confezioni Crosby's lookbook just feels perfectly like summer.

MSMG Spring/Summer 2012

I'm hooked on the brand, MSMG lately and their S/S 2012 collection is as lovely as the resort and fall ones I appreciated earlier. Stripes of floral with vivid yellow? It's a nice twist on a classic look and extravagantly styled.

Adam Resort 2012

Minimalism with super strappy shoes and a red lip? Yes, please. Adam Resort 2012

Loving the latest Spring/Summer look book from Australian designer Rodeo Show. You would all know by now I have a major weakness for whimsical lighting, romantic settings and a pretty, feminine and vintage-inspired aesthetic. It seems Rodeo Show have found the perfect balance between simple yet sophisticated pieces with their beautiful use of flowing and flattering silks, delicate lace and feminine frills. Sometimes designers can go a little overboard with sweetness and add frills, bows and pleats all at once and in all the wrong places. Less is always more and Rodeo Show seem to have got it just right. I think that lace collared shirt will be the perfect addition to break up my plain shirt collection too. Also might have a slight girl crush on Krystal Glynn after shooting with her for the General Pants Co campaign. She seems to be popping up in every other campaign at the moment and I still can't believe she's only 16. Amazing.
